Grace and peace Saints.
Starting today we will begin to present a memory verse every week. Â You should say these verses with every meal when you give thanks. Â Not just when you are sitting at the table, but anytime you eat or drink anything.
Program yourself to say these verses several times a day until they become a part of rote memory. Â Write them on a post-it note and stick them on your computer monitor. Â Stick them on your refrigerator and on your bathroom or vanity mirror. Â Stick one inside your wallet so that whenever you open it, the verse will be right there winking at you. Â Stick one on your front door so that before you go out, you can see it and walk out with that verse in your head. Â Before you know it, you won’t need the note anymore.
The theme for this week’s verse is fear. Â Now most of us know that “God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).” Â But it is also nice to know that God is always with us:
“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9).
Isn’t that good news? Â God is with us wherever we go, so we need not fear. Â
That’s good to know in this crazy world. Â Things are going downhill so quickly that most people know intrinsically that something is terribly wrong. Â Countries are experiencing unprecedented turmoil. Â Almost everywhere you turn, someone is rioting. Â School shootings are no longer news. Â
The love of many has waxed cold.  Parents are killing their children, children are killing their parents, and children are killing other children.  Hollywood glorifies debauchery and immorality and thanks to Harry Potter and Twilight, witchcraft is the fastest growing religion in America.
And on top of all that, there is growing hostility towards the things of God. Â The Gospel is being trampled underfoot as America has turned its back on the Lord Jesus. Â And the government is passing laws that will ultimately make it very hard for soul winners to fulfill the Great Commission without great risk. Â
And as if that wasn’t enough, even nature has lost its mind as floods, tornados, and earthquakes have become almost commonplace. Â It has gotten so that when you go to bed at night, you have absolutely no idea what kind of world you are going to wake up to in the morning. Â The light has virtually gone out of the world.
With all this, we need to know that God is with us. Â This verse tells us that God is with us no matter where we go, so we have no need to fear. Â God is ordering our steps. Â He will protect us.
So be encouraged and look up, for your redemption draweth nigh.
