Grace and peace, dear saints, and greetings to the unsaved.
You may have noticed that lately we have been spending a great deal of time on the podcasts and less time posting any articles. Â This is because before this week I had only produced two podcasts in three months, and I was afraid that the inactivity would cause the iTunes Store to cancel my show. Â I don’t know that they would do that, but I seem to remember that if users don’t download new episodes regularly, their subscriptions would be automatically cancelled, so I gathered that the same thing could happen to podcasters if they don’t post new episodes regularly.
I would hate for that to happen, because I truly believe the information would be a benefit to the body of Christ. Â So, I plan to spend the next week or so just trying to make up for lost time. Â I am basically doing companion broadcasts for the most popular or edifying articles until each of those has its own podcast. Â When that is completed (or at least nearly completed) I will again turn my attention to posting more regularly.
I have noticed that as I get more comfortable podcasting, the production time has decreased, so I can turn out a broadcast quicker. Â And I am learning to stay on topic better and my digressions are considerably less. Â The result is a cleaner, smoother, more succinct and edifying listening experience. Â You may also notice that the broadcasts are getting shorter, as the last three podcasts were one hour 14 minutes, just over an hour, and 33 minutes, respectively. Â I am not concerned about the time if the information deserves a thorough exposition, but I am concerned if it does not. Â The goal is to turn out at least a podcast a week, God willing, which would give the listener something to look forward to.
Why the podcast? You may ask. Â Well, most people can retain what they hear better than what they read, so the podcast facilitates this. Â Additionally, many people just prefer to listen rather than read, especially when there are few pictures and graphics to spice up an article. Â Since I am not a graphics person, the podcast is a good alternative. Â Moreover, the podcast makes the information accessible to a wider audience, such as to people with vision problems, and is more convenient for those who don’t have time to sit in front of a computer screen. Â They can listen to the information at their leisure: in their car when they’re on their way to work, on the train or bus during their morning commute, during their lunch break, or at the gym—literally anyplace at all. Â They can just download the podcast onto their favorite audio device, and it’s there whenever and wherever they want it.Â
But I am not only concentrating on the podcasts. Â I am still in the Word of God and am working on a few articles concerning end time events from the Book of the Revelation. Â I will be bringing those articles to you very shortly, God willing.
Be encouraged and look up, for your redemption draweth nigh.
